Cast Stone - Vibrant Dry Tamp

Cast Stone (Dry Tamp) 04720:

A highly refined building material used primarily in masonry trim applications.

Cast Stone offers a durable, cost effective alternative to natural cut stone that can be customized to color preference and delivers a consistent, attractive appearance.

There are two different methods of production (this method, Dry Tamp, is described below).

The Vibrant Dry Tamp (VDT) Method involves a mix design that includes cement, fine aggregate (sand), minimal water and applicable admixtures.  This dry mix is batched, shoveled into molds, compacted / tamped in layers and stripped shortly after.  The VDT units are then treated with moisture for a period of time, so hydration is triggered.  Dry Tamp Cast Stone requires minimal post-production finishing since the absence of water reduces air voids and there is no concrete skin to remove, so the need for acid washing is not as common.  VDT Cast Stone finish is often described as a ‘sugar cube’ texture.

Typical applications of this product include sills, headers, capstones, veneer units, water tables, decorative accents, etc.
